Yeah I like it too. I wish I could have a diesel. I already have a 91 coupe that that is a project that is the problem.
#5
How far is this from being a solid runner? No BS, I know your trying to sell a car, but I don't want to drive 2+ hours to find that you were sweet talking it. I want a diesel and need it to be close to a daily as possible, if it needs some work thats ok. I cant afford the time or money for a real project right now, just a beater.

here is the deal. car was perfect I drove it around all the time. I sold it about a week ago and the KID who drove it home called me after about 25 miles and said it was low on power and quit. So being a nice guy I gave him his money back. Pulled the head and had a bad seal on the gasket on cylinder 4. I put a new gasket on and it will start but smokes a bunch. At this point I think it would have to be towed to it's new home but it does run. Lots of new parts $1200 is totally cheap. Car is way solid. call me if you are serious. I have no intention of trying to burn anyone, straight up
call me if you want 77three 799 4814

Ok well forget you guys I guess I am going to pull the engine, rebuild, turbo, and paint it flat black. $1200 really. Man I see some of the crap people work on here can't believe no body wants this.

I want it! Just the timing is bad for me. Also Mt. pleasant is a pain to drive to for most

UPDATE:
https://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/21704
she's a runner. Timing for the pump was off
#10
When I said timing was bad did you have a light bulb moment?
#11
hahah no. But I recently had the pump rebuilt for my caddy which is literally all new parts and when I got the pump back it ran like crap. When I did the timing a second time I realized I was off by a tiny bit. SO I rotated the pump on the Jetta for a little more fuel and it ran like a top.

I am interested, just collecting the funds and finding the time to make it out there, (wife is like 10 months pregnant, so I cant venture too far)

If the timing works out i might be willing to drive it to Spanish fork, but only if you are serious, no tire kickers

not worth 1200, sorry.
700 is my offer

and 1200 bucks is a rip off for a 30 year old car that will need love regardless of how it "runs" or what you say the shape is.
it's not a solid runner, ok that can be sorted, but how much will it cost? body doesn't look great at all, and you get salt and snow, i know how that works on cars, especially over 30 years. how many breaks in service where there? do you have ALL of the records for every year since bought in 81/82? i doubt the 127k on the odometer is accurate, it probably doesn't work.. how competent are you mechincally that i know you truly have an idea how the car works/runs?
i'm not busting your balls, i'm being honest as an incredibly experienced MKI owner and VW technician.
i will need a car when i come back, i don't mind a little work, but i won't get ripped off either. and i've owned MKI's my entire( had some other second cars), seen them from pristine to **** box as an owner and as a tech and car builder. i like the car, but i know what it's worth bigtime. and insurance wouldn't give me 1200 if it got rear ended, KBB doesn't list that either.
i wouldn't buy a MKI to be driven to death, i want it to put time into it, and i wouldn't start by paying way to much for a car is bad condition, regardless if it runs.
now that i see more rust. and noticed it is going to hide more than it shows...
$600 cash

That interior looks good. Are there any cracks in the dash?

wow vageta is kind of being a D bag. you may know your stuff and all that but its not really right for you to pick apart someones car like that when they're trying to sell it. if you have an offer, a lowball offer in your case, then make your offer but dont dissect the car, that's just plain rude. if someone opened with something like that on my FS thread i would surely ignore it and refuse to sell to you purely due to the fact that you're outright rude
and yes im copy pasting this to both of the threads you so kindly made an offer on

so on this post MKV douche, i noticed you can't even spell my name correctly.
secondly as stated previously.
this car can't even be timed correctly, the though of selling this swiss cheese rusted vehicle for so much is insane. i know the rockies, i'm form the rockies. and i currently live in a far more damp place.
i made a legitimate offer based on what i saw, which 90% of was not said. this car has been listed as a clean car and "totally solid"
pics show massive rust, and what you see is not what you get, there is more.
the rabbit, it has been hit a couple times, it's obvious from teh pics, it has broken bits all over, the engine was degreased before pics trying to portray it is a clean, upkept car. engine bays get dirty. but a clean bay doesnt mean great car.
get salty, but don't knock my intelligence and experience over an honest post with an honest offer....
offer stands, as posted, cash in hand when i arrive.

Thanks for a good read vega, I got a good laugh from your rant. I have so many things I could respond with but I will leave it at this. Move on
