Not much at all. Maybe a liter or so? Or are you asking about the entire system?

Anybody know how much fluid it can hold???

I really suck at smog.

it the same part, so same capacity. it has no real bearing on how well the system works, other than giving an expansion volume for it. Has nothing to do with cooling ability.

i would say it has a capacity of about HALF a litre..
gotta remember, you still need air space in the expansion tank so the coolant can expand and not puke out..

it cant be the same part.. and also having the smaller resevoir , my concern is that "am i maxing out my engines cooling system with a smaller container???" I have a vr in a cabrio.. letting alone that the vr are a hot running motor...
its like having a pot of water, the one with half a pot of water will boiler faster than one with a pot thats full of water.. i dont know thats how i see it...My car doesnt overheat but the hottest my car gets is 212 in 75-80+ degree weather?? i just wanna try and get lower temps if possible
i am already running a external oil cooler with low temp thermo and low temp fan switch.. i think if it were hotter id be over heating
but check it out

The mkIV's use the same tank for all the motors, 2.0, TDI,1.8T and the 12V and 24V VR6's.
The tank has nothing to do with the cooling abilities of your system. That would be more related to the radiator, water pump and the thermostat you have. A new radiator will bring your system to maximum efficiency if you have any doubts about how it is cooling.
But, for whatever reason VW used two diff tanks in the mkIII's, I guess they found out later it didn't need to be that way.

do you really think that adding a HALF LITRE (2-3 cups more) capacity to your cooling system is going to help out?
if you have cooling problems, get a bigger radiator, not a bigger expansion tank..
you could have a million gallon cooling system capacity, but without a big enough radiator, it will never work right..
