I think I need the chip in my ECU reflashed. It has a high idle (about 1,000 RPM), and when I let off the throttle, it will continue to accelerate for a second after the throttle has been let off. Also, the biggest concern, I think it is running a little lean, and is causing it to ping when I try to accelerate from a lower engine speed.
Any and all help is appreciated. I cannot afford very much, seeing as I am a college student working at a minimum wage job. If you can help, thank you!

Well, like I said, I can't afford much. So is there any other possibilities out there? It already has a TT chip in it, I'd rather not have to buy one, nor can I afford it.

Sounds like you need a throttle body relearn. It can also be done on a mk3 without vagcom.

Thank you for googling that for me, that helped a ton! I will try that tonight and see if that fixes my issue!

    Just to be clear:

    Disconnect battery
    Let power discharge
    Reconnect battery
    Turn key to "on" position
Let it sit in "on" position for 20ish minutes
    Start motor
    Let idle for 15ish minutes
    Then shut off the car

These are the steps? Read that whole first forum that came up, I just wanted to be sure these are the correct steps

So, re aligned the throttle body, and driven 70 miles, still having the same issue. Any other thoughts? I'm going to go back through and check my iac, throttle body, and maf again

You need to scan it for codes, With a Vagcom or equivalent tool.
Then post what codes you have.
