Awesome! Totally agree with their analysis, and exactly why I continue to buy VWs instead of hte "mainstream" brands.

What part of the nation is buying the most Passat’s? They keep talking about it being a best seller, but on a 1,333 mile round trip from Western Washington to Northern California I only saw 2.

Our TDI SEL was pure pleasure to drive and on the long, straight, flat, boring I5 through central Oregon I was getting 54mpg, overall was about 43mpg. It’s not quite as comfortable as my 2008 Ford Taurus was, but the mpg and fun to drive factor made up for it.
TDI, the only reason to own a Volkswagen.

I see them all over Connecticut & New York. I also see a lot of VW's in general here in the Northeast.

There are a number of Passats here in the Los Angeles area, but the most popular VW here is the Jetta. Second, just by sight, is the New Beetle.

Though the numbers seem to be there, this is the same thing that I've been wondering. I often do police details, so I get to see traffic all day long. I rarely see more than a couple of Passats go by in the course of a day (metrowest Mass.). I assume it's popularity is fairly regional (much like Acura for instance). It seems that VW still doesn't have that much of a dealer presence considering their ambitious plan (overly so in the eyes of some) to grow the brand. That, along with their dealer network being considered somewhat dismal by many in the business, will have to change, and fairly promptly, to achieve their lofty growth targets.
"If stupid got us into this mess, how come it can't get us out?"
