We need to come up with a new product that is sold at Autobone, Adtrance, etc
Call it "tire retread tape"- but put in small letters that it is for cosmetic use only.
But basically it would be a nylon reinforced duct tape (with the nylon perforated every foot for tearing off the roll) with a pvc surface texture that looked like tire tread and a special duct tape glue that cured even harder once heated.
Some people might get quite a bit of extra run time on bald tires.
But like the picture- I suspect most are just trying to get a bad tire to last until they get their next paycheck.... and they still have three days of work before that.

I can get on board with selling a dumb product to dumb people for profit, but I'd be a bit uneasy about sending 2 ton steel objects down the road with false confidence in the drivers that their tires will hold up in an emergency at 60mph (or any other speed for that matter).
In other words, the innocent drivers could be paying for the dumb drivers' mistakes.
"Artificial Intelligence usually beats natural stupidity." <---- If we apply that logic to driverless cars, the future of commuting should be just fine.

My friend bought a Continental Mark II that has "only" been underwater for an hour. The oil flowed out and the water flowed in.

I hate to admit it but this actually happened to me but on a smaller scale. A design flaw on the first generation Dodge Journey SUV's allowed A/C condensation (aka water) to accumulate and drip down into the transmission vent tube. We bought a brand new 2009 model, put about 500 miles on it before the tranny puked. Towed to the dealership where they literally drained over 2 cups of water out of the transmission. No joke. Talked to a MOPAR engineer who told me about the A/C condensation "oversight". I was not happy. I guess there's a reason they have a lifetime powertrain warranty....

Am I the only one that finds most of the posted material disturbing?
Regardless of your financial situation, if your brake rotors are NON EXISTENT, tires patched with tape, etc... Please stay off the road.

If I were in that situation it would go down to carpool or public transportation.
Never would I put other people in danger, or even bring other people that i care about into a car in that shape.

Again, you say that without having lived it, as have I, but I've known and worked with quite a few people who were pretty much distitute, but had jobs, and their jalopy was the only way to get to/from work.
You cannot have it both ways. You cannot have people work to keep themselves off welfare and then disparage those same people from skimping on anything they can to make ends meet. As I said before, try living on your own for $1200/month gross ... now understand that many people in this country are raising a FAMILY on that amount of money. People do what they need to do to get by and for one, I'd rather them grind through a set of brake rotors than go without food for a week.
People in this country are so blind to the blight of so, so, so many.

I love all the brake rotor pics. It makes me feel so much less retarded about my own rotor horror show posted below.
My 2000 Beetle sat for a year while I was going through Physical Therapy. When I finally got back behind the wheel my rotors just sort of crumbled.
