Thread: rear armrest latch broke-stealership won't cover under warrenty

  1. 10-02-2012 03:15 PM #1
Took my A3 to the stealership to replace my cam position sensor because of warm start issues. I figured that I'd have them replace my rear armrest while they have it because the latch was broken when I purchased it. I was told that it is a trim item and not covered under warranty. $485 to repair which I refuse to pay. <40k on the car.

    Any suggestions?

do you still have original warranty or CPO? I had CPO on mine and they replaced it under warranty. I always tell people in the back seat not to mess with the armrest..lol Anyways might want to try another dealer. Others may be more inclined to help.

mine is broken too.... it broke all by itself. I never even use it!

velcro, magnets, drywall screws..... anything but audi crap plastic.

oh and my front armrest latch is broken, and my rear sunroof shade latch...

    audi plastic fail.
Audi is the girl who was really cute in high school, but now puts on way too much makeup in order to try and hang out with the hot girls.

My seat backs have separated from the front seats at the top... haven't made it into dealer yet, but have been wondering if they'll nail me with "trim item" bs as well.

I went ahead and called Audi of America to see if they'll help me out. From my sleuthing on the interwebz it seems that the vast majority of dealerships have covered this issue w/o question. I am the 2nd owner. I didn't buy from an Audi dealership, but did take it back to the dealership that originally sold the car for the warranty work. I would have thought that it would be a "good will repair" and want to keep me as a future customer. They did hook me up w/ a 2012 A6 as a loaner which I'm not complaining about...

    Yeah try a different dealer

my dealer fixed my center console/arm rest latch that broke off under the factory warranty

they even replaced those plastic clips that are on the back of the backseat in the cargo area.

3rd owner, 38k on the car. same part broke, dealer never hesitated. replaced. had to wait 6 weeks, part was out of stock in u.s. this summer. can you say recurring issue??? politely tell the dealer to replace it or you will frequent another dealer who will. stupid they won't. that latch should have been redesigned and retrofit. stupid.
