It's an investment, for sure, but with me, it was a game changer in this car. It's no Nissan GTR, but it will now hang with some semi-exotic cars easy.
1st and 2nd gear in this car are just nuts. Car just squats down, hooks up, and goes!

Because it would have broken the $40k barrier. Can you imagine what the average American would say when presented with the idea of a $40,000 Golf?

But I do think it's weird that the Audi TTS ONLY comes with DSG.
Because I think VW wants to have their top of the line small cars to come with manual only since only enthusiasts would spend so much on a premium sporty small car (Mind state in America still seems to be bigger is better). Hence, the TT RS and Golf R come with manual only in the states.

The TT-S is a premium over there regular TT, and it has the same engine/drive-train as teh Golf-R.
There no 6 speed manual option though.

Actually the TTS is one way I justified the cost of the Golf-R.
I saved $10k and gained much more functionality by buying the VW over the Audi.

    This is unfortunate but understandable.
The stage 3 kit includes the front section of the downpipe, and connects to the middle section of your existing APR downpipe. You can purchase this "midpipe" separately if you are going from stock to stage 3, but the savings are not much.

The existing carbonio engine cover intake system is not compatible.

The VWR intake system would be replaced, all the way up to the front filter section. I have not tried it with the stage 3 system, but I don't see a reason it would not fit.

The CHEAPEST route would be to go directly from stock to stage 3. That way you don't lose money on those parts which are no longer needed. I also think you get a "deal" on the HPFP if purchasing in combination with the turbo kit, don't you?
We have not decided how we'll do the kits. On the older FSI system we created 4 systems based on what mods you had, but it ultimately becomes a bit of a problem for inventory. When dealers stock stage 3 systems on their shelfs, having parts included / not included ends up being a problem for some of them, so we may stick to the TSI setup and offer just one system. This is all being discussed right now.

This is kind of the delima I'm in right now... not sure if I want, or could even swing, a BT Golf R a couple years from now... and I don't want to waste money. So I'm sitting tight on any other power mods for now.
The full downpipe vs the midpipe was only a savings of about $150 iirc. The intake could easily be sold to someone elas. What you do gain by going piece by piece along the way is all the power and enjoyment. I don't think anyone can argue with that.

I was talking about the top of the line models offered in the US. Its the TTRS and Golf R.

Again, this is just me trying to make sense of VW's intention.

I would start with the performance modifications and then head on over to the suspension mods.

    thanks alot.

I am going to try to come monday and have APR do the pump and the intake.. what are ur thoughts on the VWR intake VS the APR carbon fiber intake? a friend has one (vwr) that he only used for 2 months and is willing to dump it cheap..

I had one of the first Stg 3 kits on my S4 back in the day before I got away from VAG cars, now that I'm back into them, I'm definately waiting to see what the stage 3 R kit will have.

LOL, I had a Stage 3 MKIV 337 and during an Audi event, I ran door to door with my friends twin turbo Audi RS6, from 70 to 145. All I recall about that run was seeing these HID lights gaining on me in my rear view mirror, and as I was hitting 145mph, a silver Stage 3 S4 came by both of us doing all of 160mph. My jaw dropped! Awesome sounding exhaust on those generation S4's too.

Here's a little testing down under....

APR Australia's Street Legal Golf R just made several 10 second quarter mile passes at Willowbrank Raceway, an Australian National Drag Racing Association Ltd certified track.

This vehicle is street legal in Australia and spends most of its time either daily driving or dominating on the circuit as seen in Motor Magazine. This is not a purpose built drag car.

The vehicle is equipped with the following power modifications:

APR Stage 4 Turbocharger System with GTX Turbocharger
    APR ECU Upgrade
    APR Built Motor
    APR High Flow Head
    APR High Pressure Fuel Pump
    APR Intercooler System
    APR RSC Turboback Exhaust System
APR Low Pressure Fuel Pump System
    APR Carbonio Intake System
    STOCK GOLF R INJECTORS

It's running on 18" VWR Wheels and MT Drag Radials and Sunoco GT+ 104 unleaded fuel.

The vehicle is at full weight minus the rear seat.

Do we have a new world record on our hands?
