Has anyone changed out their sport radio for an 8" touchscreen unit yet?
    Any issues to consider?

Do you mean the VW RNS-510 Navi. radio or a 3rd party? If the RNS-510 then there's already other threads on it. Search it. Install is easy as pie.

I thiink he means the pre 2010 stock radio which whas dial only.

After 2009, all the OEM radios were touch screen.

If he actually means from a stock 2009 radio to an RNS510 radio, he will need an antenna adapter and a VaGCom tweak.

I did the above changeover on my 2009 Eos.

Ya I was looking at something like this:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Erisin-ES958...30852009224%26
Seems I need VagCom before I do anything I guess.

Is this a VW OEM unit?:

Those two radios have really ugly inerface, they are not RNS they are chinese replicas.

I got audiosurces as-7609 great radio for $430. you dont have to do any vagcom changes, it is plug and play.
ANS-810 looks really nice with beautiful interface:

    What does Ftw mean?

This one says it has VW steering wheel control:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Erisin-ES958...30852009224%26

Does anyone know if a 2011 unit would work on a 09?

Lots of people have had good experiences with them. But for what it's worth, you will loose voice dialing and satellite radio. I didn't care so much about the Sirius, but I use voice dialing more than I ever thought I would. When I was communicating with audiosources, I never got a straight answer on what information from the head unit was transferred over to the MFD. Also, if you have a VW MDI in the glove box, these are not compatible with it. You will have to route the usb from the unit to the glove box.

At the time, I was quoted $600 for the ANS510. After considering the fact that I wasn't willing to give up the voice dialing, I ended up getting a real RNS510.
2010 CC Sport 6MT, Clear turns, Modshack Intake, Unitronic Stage 1+, RNS 510 Upgrade, 9W7(L) upgrade, 10 spkr Audio Upgrade with Amp and 10" sub.

I agree with you, it seems like you give up a lot of features and there are a lot of unknowns. I'm all about a good deal, but I'd stick with the OEM RNS-510 as well. Although, I have a premium 7 HU, so anything else would be an upgrade (minus the loss of Sirius).

Ya just old threads on buying or selling a radio which is pretty much all I can find, as well as other people asking the same question as me. Not much technical information though.
