Own a 2006 325i with 41,000 trouble free miles. Really like the 4runner. Should I sell the BMW or get the 4runner?
I am thinking in the long run, maintenance is going to be expensive. Should I sell it now before I can't get much in return?

4Runner looks absolutely awful. I wouldn't drive it if it was free. I am sure they are bulletproof and a nice truck overall but is really is hideous. Even if I needed a huge truck like that the 4Runner might be my last choice just because I literally couldn't look at it everyday.

My father had a 4runner that looked like this. Ate up the miles like nothing. Not sure of your situation though. Sell the 325 OR buy the 4runner? Implying you'd keep the BMW if you bought the Toyota? And if you sold it you wouldn't buy anything? If so, then two cars > no cars.

Id imagine a 325 is going to last a long time. No turbos to worry about either...
But the 4 runner is so cool too! Damit!
Ok personally i'd keep the bimmer, especially considering how much gas is going to cost you. Do you REALLY need a 4x4?

Take what he said, minus the bulletproof part, turn it into the complete opposite, multiply times 1000 and then you got the truth. The Current 4Runner is one of the most awesome trucks in the market, especially the Trail Edition and quite possibly the best 4Runner ever made.

You are gonna hate filling it up... get a Q5 2.0T plus KO4 upgrade.Tows 4,000lb so not much off the 4Runner if 5,000 is correct.

Road conditions here aren't different than the lower 48; just less miles and multi lane hwys. Of course the 4x4 option and towing capacity is a plus, living 350 miles to the closest BMW dealer is also factor in looking at Toyota. You are right about having winters. Our bimmer has general altimax arctics and they are the best.

Do you want to daily drive a 4Runner? If all I needed to do was tow something every once in a while and use 4wd when I need to, I would pick up a cheap used truck and have the BMW to drive and have fun with all other times.
You think you hate it now. Wait til you drive it.

If I lived in Alaska, I'd probably own a truck/SUV of some kind. With seat heaters.

Well I jinked my car; remember I said "41,000 trouble free miles", the BMW took a poop and now won't start, not even with a jump. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

I have a 3rd gen 4runner and i love it but would never consider a 5th gen. it looks like hell. Like a Sequoia. Horrible. You'd have to be a total poser to buy it. I also have a 08 turbo diesel Grand Cherokee. I'd get a 2013 diesel GC if in the market for another SUV.

06 325? Possibly a bad starter, bad key, or a power cable issue. I would say starter most likely. They aren't that bad of a car to keep, then again, that 5th gen 4Runner is bad ass though, my friend has one and it does some uncanny stuff off road.

"Take what he said, minus the bulletproof part, turn it into the complete opposite..."
I was just trying to make a point in a very exaggerated way, same as you did, that not everyone feels the same as you and that many of us thing the 4Runner is a very nice truck.
