Ok here is the deal. I have a 1981 Caddy. It has been converted once from a diesel to the 1.8 8v I think from a fox. Well The motor runs perfect but I want more power... I bought a 2.0 from a 94 or 95 Jetta. I have the motor wiring harness computer intake ect. I am not sure what else I need to buy but I am sure you guys can tell me.

Anyway I don't have time to do the swap myself. I work 7 days and about 90 hrs a week. I am wanting someone that has expierance to do the motor swap including electrical for me. The caddy is my daily drive so I expect it to be done in a reasonable amount of time. I have a driveway if you want to do it at my house. I might be able to squeeze you into a shop but it couldn't stay there long or I can drive it to your house/shop/garage/grandma's house whatever you need to get it done. Payment will be in CASH when done.....

Pm me or post up here how much you Money you want to do the swap! Thanks

Depends on how fast and how clean you want

This is my 20v so far

    Harness is now wrapped mostly

    Here's my aba

I can't seem to find any pictures of it actually completed Lol

    My vr swap

I know how to wire obd2 harness' im sure obd1 is just as easy there are a few motions as far as wiring I can splice. Into the mk1 harness convert it ce2 or piggy back the fuse boxes and run two fuse boxes I prefer to splice

I would like to come and help, though I don't know much about this swap and would be there purely to soak up whatever experience i can. I have a somewhat similar situation for my GTI, but from a 8v ABA to a 16v, and im worried about doing it, because i dont know what im doing.

Back on topic.. my little brother said he found some older guy by the name of Larry or Lawrence, works freelance or for a shop, A1 or something, (I could be wrong) - Said he'd do an aba swap including the engine for $1k

    Anybody know this guy?

    too good to be true.

1000..no clue how the motor is, no clue how he is going to do it, will he provide wiring perspective so you can trouble shoot when **** goes wrong? mileage and such on the motor? will the motor get a refresh?

though juicehall has a motor already.

Not a mechanical issue for me its a time issue. I work a lot and when i do get some time away from work and away from my family i don't want to be turning a wrench.

I totally hear that. I was just thinking today how you have to enjoy doing this, (trying to keep cars running and fixing them up..) because if you don't, it will make you go crazy trying to keep as many going as I have. It's kind of consumed me and I just learn as I go. It's not like I ever took apart an engine to fix it before but it looks like I might soon.

I've got a 2.0 sitting at my house along with harness and computer. I an planning on junkyard doing the swap just can't part with the car for that long right now. I either need to but a car to drive while it is down or wait until motorcycle weather. Also i might sell the 2.0 and but a tdi or a 1.8t just can't decide. I know those will cost more but do it nice or do it twice!

    Another question.
What's the best 2.0 year to turbo? That will give me good performance without hurting my pockets so much?
