Chrome Weather Stripping Removal

Has anyone gone from chrome weather stripping on the doors back to black? If so, was it difficult or does it involve a master hand and tools rented from NASA?

It would probably be easier to have it wrapped in black vinyl or carbon fiber that try and replace it.

I have been kicking around a vinyl wrap, but I only want to have to do it once. Colorado summers and winters can get extreme and I want to make sure it lasts for 5+ years...

There was a thread at one time where someone priced the trim from the dealer to be 1K+. I would gladly do vinyl twice or three times for a lot less

Wow, I guess it's true when they say you always want what you don't have. I was wondering how expensive it would be to ADD the chrome molding.
