Looking for advice from the 4mo crowd....

Since the 4mo (or maybe all VR6's?) uses larger rotors, I'm concerned about clearance. I've got an old set of 16" Mille Miglia Spyders from my B5.5 that I KNOW won't fit. Looking at the clearance on the 18" Daytona's that are on there, I seriously wonder if a 17" rim will fit. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated!

I'm starting to search CL for some rims.... Picked up a mint set of OEM rims for my Treg for $100 a while back - now my winter setup for the Egg. CC needs the same treatment.

    Thanks!

Let me know if you find something. I'd be interested in finding a decent cheap winter set of rims / tires. I've a gut that this is going to be a "icy / snowy" winter indeed.

Might get more responce on the Passat forum. IRK, my ex used to put 16" Beetle wheels on her 225 TT Quattro... I think that the GTI guys also run a similar set-up.

I too am looking for a winter set of wheels. I like the look of my 18" Daytona's for the summer but want to drop down to 17" rims for the New England roads in the winter. I was considering the 17x7.5 OEM Monte Carlo's that I have seen on some Passats.

Has anyone used these? I know the offset is 47 vs 41 for my Daytona's.

I was about to buy some conti DWS tires for my 18" Daytonas and run them all year long but found a set of used Daytonas with Michelin pilot alpins! Other than not having tps mounted I couldn't beat that for a winter setup. Good luck in your search! It can be done.

I know 17" Denver Wheels off a GTI will fit too.

    They'll fit!

They'll just be narrower (only 7.5" wide) and combine that with a high offset (of 50), will sit more inward (15mm) than your stock wheels do....which is fine

I ended up getting a set of Monte Carlo 17x7.5 rims and they do fit! They are quite close though. There is maybe 3/16" clearance between the inside edge of the rim and the calipers. Be careful with wheel weights they get really close! I will have to keep an eye on this with snow and ice.

These rims have fatter spokes than the Daytona and the outside surface of the rim is less concave, flatter. I am hoping since the outside edge of the rims are pulled in slightly it should keep more of the white salt off the sides of my black car!
