*just a rant to start a nice discussion*
This is what I told my mom 4 years ago when I was about 14 or 15 years old. I've grown up in a volkswagen family and its almost religion among us, to buy old used volkswagens. So to my despair I find out through the grapevine there is a new caddy released in europe, and soon to be released in north america. I go to the german website and to my disappointment find this.
My first reaction was excitement. Until I realized the name; "DER CADDY"... Its not a caddy.
This is nothing but a mere golf wagon. Sure its rad, but why name it caddy? Its almost ruined the name, Everyone knows the caddy to be the iconic rabbit pick up truck. (most likely with colapsed strut towers might I add) This is not a caddy, nor will it ever be a caddy.
I am now going to rephrase what I said as a boy;
"The day volkswagen brings the rabbit pick-up back The real caddy, is the day i buy a new" car off the lot.

So, because the US got this:
...you think that's the one and only Caddy. How about these:
1983 - 1992/1997
1995 - 2003
2003 - 2010
2010 - present
See the evolution?
