Hey guys. I posted these in the audio section as well but I just wanted to show you guys my latest project. I'm installing a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 into the dash of my Jetta. So far I've only gotten as far as modifying the trim to take the tablet and its dock. I will be sharing more pics as this project progresses. Take a look!
New Double Din Trim
Ground screw posts off so the tablet would mount flush
The back of the unit before I lock it down
What it will look like in the dash when its installed

Thanks! The anticipation on getting the rest of the components in is killing me

Sick man, do you have steering wheel controls?

Unfortunately I don't have them on my Jetta SE. That would have been bad ass though

Im buying a simple bluetooth enabled single din headunit and putting it in the arm rest. Then I will use the PAC module to interface the audio. Then I will run out of the speaker out of the samsung dock and go into the aux in on the headunit in the armrest.

Right now im waiting on the hard shell cover for the tablet to come and then I can start epoxying it down into the trim piece. I will post pics of that once it comes in

when doing this, how do u keep all of the car speakers and everything working
#14
Its my understanding that you buy a module call PACV2 and it lets you use an aftermarket stereo in your car. so I will run the speaker out from the Samsung tablet dock into the aux port on the new headunit in the arm resr and boom...you got sound. At least that is my understanding of the whole thinf.

If you use a Blackberry Playbook you won't have that Samsung logo running sideways along the bezel. They're pretty cheap right now, and run a QNX based OS (I think RIM bought QNX).

I really don't mind the Samsung logo there at all. I also can't stand anything Blackberry (just my personal opinion) I could even mount it over a little bit so you wouldn't see the Samsung logo.

I went with this tablet because I already have the Samsung Galaxy SII phone with unlimited data....so it will make it as seamless as possible.....in theory. Ill just tether my phone to the tablet for internet.

So, this is a permanent setup? Meaning, no quick release. Cool idea either way.![]()

Yea this is gonna be a permanent setup....for this reason. I am going to connect a USB powered Hard Drive to it, from the glove box. That way if I want to add anything to it I can do it directly from the hard drive. If I really do need to take it out, that can be done too.

DUDE. you are awesome. do a write up of everthing. This is really hot.
My question to you now is.
You have unlimited data:
Dont you have to pay extra for the tethering or is this some kind of galaxy to galaxy thing I dont know about?
because it it is,im doing the switch.

DarkNeo is right. All you have to do is root the phone and then download an app called FoxFi. Lets you tether to anything and it works great. I am working on a write up for this project and will be taking pics the whole way through!
