I am from the 80's BMW world and know those quite will. I really like the VW's from the 80's and would love to own one.
I'm curious about this car and if it's a good deal.
Also about the oil leak? Big issue? easy fix?
What do I need to look for in these VW's? Common Issues and a like.
Really appreciate the hel!

Sweet!! I'm getting pretty stoked! I'm going to go take a look at it.
Also, I started a thread in the MK1 section because I realized that it is most likely more active, which appears to be true.

Not so, this forum is very active and we are sort of more friendly than the other place.
Besides we know more about topless things than most.
oil leak? Naw that is it marking its parking spot.
Tell us where it is dripping from and we can tell you about were and what to fix.
Grounds, Grounds, Grounds Replace them things.
Divorces, Great Coffee, and Electrics, all start with GOOD Grounds.
Where are my grounds ?

what briano1234 said is true ..... best places to start for the oil leak is the valve cover gasket if it is cork then ditch it for the rubber and instead of the studs that are there find a bolt that is the same in every way thread and size and with a 10mm head because most rubber valve cover gaskets have a little metal ring in each whole and the stud will push it out and rip it been there changed it and you will never leak there again and the rubber is reusable for awile and but if not there check the oil pan the drain plug seal may be bad or the oil pan gasket may be bad these are just the easy checks and fixes but it never hurts to change somethings anyway cuz you never kno when it was done last if ever done at all but they are very awesome little vdubs
if your ganna be dumb you gatta be tough lol
