There's an extended warranty for this issue up to 100k miles. Is it an auto?

Transmission Valve Body Swap... DIY-able?

We bought a used '07 2.5 Wolfsburg Jetta from a VW dealer in Annapolis. Less than a year later the transmission starts that "slip and grab" thing with hard shifting.
Took it to a transmission shop in town who said they get about one MKV VW a week (and had two sitting on the lot). Ugh. He described the symptoms to a tee without even driving it and said it's usually the valve body unless it's cause damage to the actual transmission. $1,200 vs $5,600.
He said a valve body swap is a 3 hour job and pretty straightforward. Is this true? Anybody ever done one?

Yeah, the 6-speed automatic 09G. Only thing is that we're at about 119K miles.

sorry to bump an old thread - but has anyone been able to do the valve body themselves?
