starting problems? cabrio 8v

my moms 01 cabrio needed a new engine, got one out of a donor car I had, after installing it when I tried to fire it up it just starts and dies after a couple of seconds, I replaced the wires, plugs, cap, coilpack, and maf and still nothing..I know there isn't anything wrong with the engine not holding compression or something because I had it running a few weeks ago in the other car..no idea what else could be going wrong, its getting spark, and fuel (I can hear the pump prime) also I have tested the injectors and they are working properly..if anyone could point me in the right direction as to what could be my issue that would be awesome!

Did you perform Throttle Body Adaptation with VCDS?

I did not, ill have to do that and see What happens, it does relearn by itself though right?
