This happened to me over a month ago during a rather warm day, actually was the morning of that day figure 10am. Well I had all my windows up and this was what I found.

I checked the window to see if there was any smudge from a impact of something and nothing. No signs of vandalism just a perfectly shattered window from right in the center going outwards.

I do have window tint that is keeping it from falling in, I figure that was the only thing from keeping it from just being all over the inside of my car. Note the tint was professionally installed and not the do it yourself stuff from auto stores, "i rather dislike purple windows."

So yea was wondering if this has ever occurred to any other cabby owners.

That looks like what happens on a window when a rock hits it and then the conditions get right to show its ass.

My window was flawless, no nicks or cracks. Also I park in a driveway always backing in and there's nothing above my vw either.

I've not had it happen to any of my cars, but it is somewhat common here in Phoenix during the summer... but to windshields, due to the extreme temperature variations: Extremely hot windshield gets ice cold A/C blown onto it and bam!. So, the main cause of a shattered window that hasn't been vandalized is temperature differential across the glass; it puts stress on the glass and either immediate or when conditions are right, you'll have an implosion.

Ah, yea I sort of figured the temp had something to do with it but strangely wasn't that warm in the morning and my car has no AC but I figure maybe over a few days it might of been having micro cracks going on. Lesson I learned from this is keep my windows cracked open in the summer

last month a rock shot out from the mower i was using at work and hit the back window of a limo...$1000 replacement window! (had defrost and satelite built into it as well as tint)

looked just like that. The window is tempered.. thats why it shatters like that

Hehe sadly not parting out, she's my baby. Though I may take you up for the advice, I'll see this weekend as going thru finances ATM to make sure I have enough for glass.
