Needs to go. Or at least there should be an option for that nice glossy black piano finish. It's so sharp, why would an upper level model like GTI get an inferior finish such that cheapo looking CF?
What do you think?

I think they may be doing this for durability purposes, but I still rather have a soft touch finish instead of the hideous faux carbon fiber crap.![]()

I would be curious to know how hard it would be to change to one of the options on the Golf models (piano black or "aluminum". I am guessing not an easy swap (ex. glued in place).

Not a fan, either.
Changing out the dash and door trim was a piece of cake on the MkVs. I swapped out the engine turned trim on my 08 R32 for pieces that were painted Tornado Red, to match the exterior.
The dash is ok in the Mk VI, but the doors require that the card be removed as the trim pieces are "melted" in place from the back side. It's anyone's guess how hard it will be on the VIIs, but one thing is for sure: there is quite a bit of it.

Reminder: GTI *CONCEPT* - that can be easily changed in the final production. Yes, if it goes that way that'd be bad. But unlike some of the other things (adding a mechanical handbrake & redesigning the center console to accomdate it, for example), it's trivial for them to change trim pieces between the concept car and the final production version.

its not trying to mimic carbon fiber. Its a honeycomb pattern to mimic the exterior styling.
that said, it still looks cheap, and I do not like it.

It looks abit cheap, but my main issue is any reflective surfaces in the interior. A stray sunbeam off of any surface into the eyes is damn annoying.
