So Turkey's Parliament authorized future retaliation, but did not declare war.
    Will this continue to escalate?
Or, with a light tongue lashing from their ally Russia, does Syria realize they F'd up?

Atalay said Parliament's authorization was not declaration of war on Syria but gives Turkey the right to respond to any future attacks from Syria.
a witness in Akcakale, said the Turkish military fired five rounds of artillery "after midnight" toward Syria and another round around 5 a.m. on Thursday.

which would be less problematic if we didn't have pretty strong diplomatic and treaty ties to turkey (and our government finds syria to be generally run by ****tards)...

Crazy this has been going on for well over a year now. Assad was actually one of the MEs "good guys" too and relatively moderate for a good while compared to his father. When things went south he just went bat **** crazy though.

This was a cool but weird picture taken a week or so ago there. A journalist was filming these guys when all the sudden a tank shell blasted right infront of them all.

I can't say. People just liked it better that way.

The Syria situation sucks right now, with no easy end in sight.

NPR said that that Syria has admitted that the mortar shells that killed the Turks did come from Syria, and Syria delivered an apology to the Turks via the UN.

This does not look like Syria has any thirst for a war with Turkey.

    -tinfoil hat on-

what is al queda or whoever else is sending these shells over the border to entice Turkey, and also the US, to get into a war? Or what if it is even the opposition in Syria, trying to lure US into helping them?

I'm not following the conflict too closely, but seems like Syria has nothing to gain from f-cking with Turkey.

I'm more concerned with the chemical weapons stockpile Syria has. Could turn into a Iran-Iraq type of war where both countries are using chemical and/or biological weapons in addition to "normal" weapons.
