So I upgraded my radio from the RNS-315 to the RNS-510:
1) I am selling the RNS-315, but realized that the stock radio didn't come with a radio code. Will the new buyer need the radio code to use it? Or does the radio stay unlocked once it has been entered at the factory? The manual says that it "stays intact with the vehicle, and if it needs to be used on another vehicle, contact the dealership for radio coding".
2) The RNS-510 has traffic information available on NAV. It came with a free subscription to SiriusXM, but it just expired. However, I am still seeing traffic information on the NAV (although the TravelLink service no longer works - movies/weather/sport scores via SiriusXM). Does anyone know if the traffic is connected to SiriusXM subscription, or is it a free service?
I can only comment on #1 as I bought a RNS315 out of a Golf R.
They will need a code. The parts department should be able to help you out. there's a serial # on top of the radio thet they'll need.
