Which is better in terms of power gains and why? I'm getting ready to change tunes from GIAC to UM and I want to either eliminate my cats or get hi flow cats at the same time.

this has been settled and tested....NA = HF cats You loose power with the straight pipe.
    Turbo is a different story.

I saw threads with debates of which was better, but wasn't sure which to believe...thanks

it will be raspy(unless yours is turboed) and you will loose some power

That's just great, what we're looking for, a loss of power.

its been a while since i read over those debates but from what i remember on a NA car test pipe adds about 2-3 hp but you lose about 15 ft lbs of tq. Hope this helps

    ^this is true.
Search powerdubs topics. He has put this car to the test in every NA combination.

Also I hear good things about adding a resonator to the set up to tune the sound.

As someone who had no cats for 4 months then welded in highflow cats I can tell you this :

    - W/O sounds like ass
    - W/O you lose low end
    - W/O you do not gain high end

No cats is just ****ing dumb.

dude... you dont lose power. You lose torque down low, but it pulls a little better up top. Its just one more modification that specifies where you want your power.

Edit** Yes, it is raspy, but on WOT its awesome.

This is a USP test pipe and an EIPtuning competition series exhaust

Yeah when u remove the cats, u cap out TQ unless you have a turbo. If u have a turbo, **** it make it a 5 " straight pipe

i found this in old thread,i think is a good example as the test pipe work well,i run with no cats 1year ago and the car loss torque in low..yes this is true but have great top end power imo..i tested this between 2 points in a road, with stock cats put 188km/h and at the same point with no cats put 195km/h,test pipe works! just another way to make power. .

I have supersprint resonated test pipes mated to a resonated milltek on my girl's 3.2TT and felt no loss of low end power and def a gain in the midrange and top. Tuned by Eurotech Motorsports in Mahwah, NJ with APR Stage 2 software. Other mods include Modshack VDTA intake. Sounds great.

If a testpipe was retro'ed to a HFC. Would 2 HFCs(like stock pipe) be more adequate than just one on the end? I've seen both, which is more affective?
