I see a few posts here describing diagnostic steps in great detail. I have a Vag-Com, I purchased the Bently CD at the same time from Ross-Tech for my mkiv R32. I'm not sure if i'm doing something wrong but I've used the manual a few times and browsed around and found nothing like diagnostic steps using the Vag-Com (or the factory tool).
Am I missing the important place on the manual or did i buy the wrong one (need a shop type manual?)
I want to maximize the use of this great tool and i find i'm only using it to scan after cel's.

for instance, when i open a module there are "safe" and "refer to manual" areas. I have never seen anything in my CD Bentley manual which discusses the "refer to manual" blocks. Is it there? do i need another manual?

First off VW-Audi in about 2003/4 moved all the OBD genuine diagnostic path information to GGF in the VAS tester, to further secure there advantage from the aftermarket getting the information to repair cars.

    However!

In VCDS, each block has parameters in captions when highlighting a block for the most part with a spec. Not all blocks have the data, but most of them do.

A fact which makes the VCDS tester superior over the OEM VAS tester in many instances.

Oh and don't duplicate posts please.

    Get a MAF already!
