get the wiring diagrams for BOTH cars...that's a good start.
What is the engine code number?

Then figure out the fuel injection
    Then figure out mounting
    Then figure out cooling.
    Fgure out the inter-cooler ducting
    Then figure out exhaust.
    Then figure out the suspension
Then the brakes for twice the horsepower
Do you have the skills for this big job?

A 1.8 swap is not especially difficult but there are pit-falls for the noobie. A 1.8 TURBO is a very big job

NLS makes mounts, Techtonics makes a swap downpipe. Those alone will help out plenty. The rest is pretty much on you. The gli is drive by wire so you'll have to fab the pedal into your car, you'll need to make a choice on what trans to use too. I'm sure the immobilizer will have to dealt with as well. Search plenty before you start into the swap.

    Awesome!
Since you've done all that and have the skills for the swap then you should also have the knowledge to know what needs to be done to complete the swap.
    Carry on.....

pretty simple swap. i went aeb with mine instead of making mounts, but now NLS makes the mounts. but its not to bad to do. no sure on wiring differences between the aeb and the newer 1.8t's but mine was simple.
