Pull back the rubber boot on the hatch check for broken wires.

Hatch Problems

So heylo forum! Another issue with the Golf. The hatch, it won't lock nor will it open via using the button on the keys or on the driver side door card. Also, I cannot use the key to lock it, it twists about 40% of a full turn and stops and won't lock. Now recently my car alarm started going off because the hatch opens up a little while the car is locked or when I'm driving. Any ideas?

Search Door Module or Actuator. There's one of these on your hatch too. I think you'll find your answers there. Good luck!
