I have have my car lowered with HR springs, with 19" continental tires. They installed both the rims and the springs. I have had my car in the shop a couple times, explaining my issue with road noise in one of my front tires. The first time the technician told me that because my car had lowering springs installed that I would need to wait atleast 1000k miles, and then the noise would be corrected.
Waited, got my alignment, and still have the noise. So my most recent trip in, I had told them I have road noise around 50 mph and I think I have a bad tire. The first technician drove the car, said he couldnt find anything, then they had the shop foreman take me for a ride to see if I could show him the noise. I told him it depended on the road, obviously newly paved roads made it easier to hear the noise in the tire. So we went down a new paved road down the street and what do you know ... the noise came up. He admited he could hear it, and would keep the car and try to find out what the issue was.
Today they called me, said they couldnt find out what the noise was ... said it's just a normal noise from the passats. They said that they put my tires on a new passat, and heard it. Said they put a new passat's tires on my car and heard it, and also said they drove a brand new stock passat and heard the same road noise.
Does anyone else have road noise or any type of unusual noise on new pavement that they can notice??
I dont know what to do, I think this is bogus ...
Thanks,
Curtis

Tell them to put a set of NON-Hankooks on & it'll quit! It's the cheap^%$ tires. One other thing it could be is a leaky window... do you hear excessive wind noise thru any of the windows? Some have had to have their doors realligned.

Overall I think wind, tire & other misc noises are more from a cost cutting design added to by poor QC at both the plant & dealerships (not all)...
My Passat is barely 3months with only 2400 on the clock..The workmanship at the d/ship is abysmal (monkeys)
Some 10 visits in all -- 2 visits to cure an issue..The 2nd visit to redo the job & clean up after!!
The Passat brings back memories of the old Lotus's & Caterhams:- everyday another x!**!!
I have just sent emails to VWoA & Germany Corp listing All the issues on my Passat. I await replies..
VWoA expect me to make a 100+miles round trip to let another VW dealer inspect my car..
After that they MAY authorize a loaner & offer some compensation..I asked for the details in writing..Sorry:- VWoA say they NO WAY...........
VWoA may have a winner but the future will not be so bright after the myriad of design & QC faults fall upon the new owners shoulders..........![]()

Any idea as to what they "Fixed" on his? Mine is really quiet on I-10 but terrible on parts of 290 and 71 between Houston and Austin, I feel like im driving my duramax its so loud some times. I do think the tires are to blame on mine and will be changing those in January.

I have a similar set up 19"s with michelin pilot sports & the H&R springs and I don't have any noise or weird sounds from the wheels/tires - I do get the occasional cracky creeky windshield sounds, but those haven't bothered me enough to take it in just for that - I'm going to mention it at my first service though...try a new tire shop...second opinion time for sure

The "cracky creeky windshield sounds" are probably from the trim piece that runs along the base of the windshield. Try grabbing onto it and try to get it to shift...it will probably creak, where it binds along the dashboard. My dealer will fix it with some foam tape at the 20k service...

so then I go pick my car up yesterday, and there were scratches on my rims ... haha these people kill me. Said he would fix it, would be in contact with me in the next day or two. I didnt leave the vehicle because its a 40 min drive to the location where I purchased the car. The only reason I keep going back there is because its lowered, with rims ... all done by that dealership ... so no one else will service the issue with the tires.
I told them they need to have a dealer by me fix the rims, and bill them ... he said he would have to look into it ... smh ...
Let us know once you get that letter back from VW ...
Do you guys think they would put hankooks on and take of the contis? Or do I want to keep the continentals ... I dont know which are better tires.
