Thread: Hate rolling up next to a pretty cool car....

    Hybrid View

and it's a soccer mom, or some guy who you can tell just doesn't appreciate what they have.

Rolled up on a W8 Passat today, and while not an awesome car...still unique and different...

Woman...on her phone...inside looked like it had trash and stuff everywhere. Probably doesn't even know what a V8 is...much less a W8.

I know it's going to come as a shock, but nobody outside of VW forums think an old W8 Passat is a "pretty cool car."

GM's take on "how much luxury can we stuff in a regular car?"

The Passat W8 is pretty much the same concept and will go down in history as such.

I would be a little excited if I saw a W8 Passat. I've never seen one on the road in my area.

I've seen these around here for sure...I remember seeing the W8 badge, but I had no clue what it was until now.

A Passat is a cool car?

W8 is a pretty weak engine too, only 271 BHP from a 4.0 litre 8 cylinder engine.

Truth. My Mom owned one a few years back and thought it was nice and quick. But once the engine started to **** itself, she dropped it to the curb.

That is because they have to pay the maintenance bills. Do I want one? Yes. Would I buy one? Hell no.......I'd be more likely to buy a Prius or SmartCar but then I would obviously be on suicide watch.

Saw a pretty hot girl driving the snot out of a modded S2000 a few days ago. Normally I hate to see some worthless cu*t in a performance car blocking traffic with her bad driving.

Hahaha, true. Most will just think its a POS Passat (surprise! it is).

Whatever. Its their car. They can do what they want. Its just a mass produced car anyway.

Cool for a winter car up here in new england.... Sorry, but a passat wagon going sideways in a blizzard with the sound of a w8 singing away would be pretty cool in my eyes.

When that actually happens, please show us the video. At that point we will hold a vote on whether or not to upgrade the Passat W8 wagon to 'cool' status.

Nobody here has any love whatsoever for the W8 Passat?

I think it is an interesting vehicle just for the uniqueness of the engine design, and pretty rare too. I'd be willing to bet that the driver of the vehicle described indeed does not appreciate those facts.

I think we got off topic with the passat.

I agree with the op in some sense, I see a lot of older women driving super clean GC imprezas, e46 m3s, S model audis and clean ITRs, etc. Funny it seems to be mostly women.. Also 3/5 times I see an evo x it's driven by a man in his upper 50's.

It's just funny sometimes to see a 'normal' person in a car you'd normally see an enthusiast in. It just shows that there's a little love for the feel of a good drive in all of us

because the thread title starts with the word "Hate" so it got backfire.

Yea, on the original topic I really do hate it because I just look at them and know they threw money at a "car" a means of transportation that they think everyone else will like. The worst is I see more old ladies in the new Mustangs than guys
Also, there's a business I pass on my way to work and some days there is an 07 Saleen and a 12 Shelby GT500 at the same time, and other days I see an NSX on RPF1s, but I"m pretty sure they appreciate their cars because they drive them a lot.
