Driving in the snow is boring. Why, because the Tig handles so well. I do use winter tires.

Winter is almost here and I was wondering if any of you tested the Tiguan 4-motion in snow?
I know it depends on tires but still.. Can you please write your experiences?
So far I love 2012 Tig SEL 4-motion and looking forward to test the 4 motion and all the safety systems it has.
Thanks!

I only have the stock All-Season tires on mine, but have had no problem in the snow at all. Have often had to take some rescue trips (i.e. help friends who got stuck on remote roads in heavy 12+ inch snow fall) and with good driving, had no problems navigating hills and maneuvering around and under fallen trees.
Given the relatively light annual snow fall in this area, snow tires on the 4-motion Tig aren't really needed. I do put winter tires on the wife's 2 wheel drive golf which helps a lot.

Thanks for your replies! Winter tires definitely help a lot, especially if tires/wheels are narrow.
255mm Pirelli look great but are probably not the best choice for deep snow.

I drove in some snow the week after we bought ours and it was AWESOME. After that storm we have had mild winterbummer.

Tested and proven last year during Anchorage's snowiest winter on record on stock all-season tires...

Thanks guys, very happy to hear that! I usually don't like winter but this time can't wait to test it![]()

I'm curious to see how our FWD Tiguan handles the snow... we got it in March, after we'd received our last snow of the season (not that we had much last winter). Initially, when we began considering the Tiguan I thought I'd want to go the 4Motion route, but given how well my 2002 Jetta and 2002 Passat handled the snow, we came to the conclusion that the extra cost was necessary. We live in downtown Chicago, so we're not in an area that goes a long time without plows, and I'd even driven my previous VWs through a couple of blizzards with little issue. If it gets similar traction and less snow in the grills below the bumper, we're golden.

So for those of you that have driven in snow would you say the stock Pirelli Scorpions handle well?

my tig goes threw the snow pretty good with the stock contis but i dont like how it is on the icy stuff . not sure if its the tires or cause im used to how my sierra was.. but im planning on getting some kinda snow/ice tires on it and then some summer only tires with a extra set of rims...

All season tires turn to hockey pucks at freezing temps and do not have enough sipes to provide the grip needed on ice.

I have a 2010 4motion Tiguan and I live in Anchorage Alaska our winter this year is just hitting but last year we had record snow fall and my tiguan was amazing I have Michelin Ice X and they work really well in Ice and snow I have the pirellis for summer but they suck on any ice or even a very cold groundif you have or know someone who's been to Alaska they will tell you the roads are a solid sheet of ice all winter and it did very very well, I have a video on my phone that I actually pulled a Chevy truck stuck in 4ish feet of snow behind my house he was trying to do donuts on the ice and went a bit off course his wife gave him so much sh!t that a VW was pulling him out it was great I had no slippage and after driving last winter with my Tiguan I absolutely love it more now than ever.
