Is there any advantage in using dizzy vs. coil pack for a VR setup? I'm in the middle of a OBD1 VR project so I can go either way. Stand alone may be in the future if it make any difference.

No turbo for this project (the other VR car I have I’ll turbo next). This project is an OBD1 3.1 liter 11.2:1 compression .. I’d rather not change out from OBD1 since all new sensors were installed. I’m just trying to figure out if there is an advantage with dizzy vs. coil.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Yeah, dizzy always starts.

13.0:1 is crazy, especially if not a race car only.

If you look at a lot of German 12v Turbo cars, they still run distributor.

One of the more famous ones, Der Renner.

OK stupid question in order to go Ob2. Does one need to convert to coilpack? Im thinking yes because of ecu or am I all wrong? Always had dizzy w/o turbo so no exp

Thanks everyone for the input. I might just try out dizzy with this project. Maybe standalone at some point.

The motor I'm using was originally being built for an all motor race car hence the 11.2:1 compression

How did one get to 3.1l? ABT crank or r32 crank?

Coil is for sheep. Dizzy's problems are always easy to solve : O2 sensor, Coolant temp sensor, or Crank position sensor. Replace every 200k and never have an issue.
