    I'm one of the few that actually welcome an A3 sedan... i've always liked A4s, but they've gotten too big with the current generation. Give me an S3 sedan, and i'd be a happy kid.

    Has there been any word about what we will and will not be getting? I know there was mention of the A3 Sedan a while back but I haven't heard anything since.

    Why not?

    * Because it's not radically different-looking.

    * Because the current A3 hasn't exactly been setting the US market on fire.

    * Because it's AUDI GMBH's decision, not Audi USA.

    * Because Americans like Sedans.

    Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it, but there's not much of a pressing motivation, other than model-loyalty from current owners of the current version... their smallest-US-selling (non-supercar) vehicle.

    They haven't even unveiled the actual A3 sedan we will be getting yet, as far as I know, so I am withholding judgement until I see what it looks like. I would obviously rather have the sportback, but if they can make a nice looking smaller sedan in RS3 trim with the 2.5T, I'd jump on that.

    I think the best thing for Audi America to do is to introduce a 2013 Audi A3 sedan model, I'm sure it would sell really well in the compact sedan market.

    Yet, at the same time, they should introduce the 2013-2014 Audi S3 2 door hatch model. It would be the Honda Civic for the middle class, and I think there's a huge market for compact hatch coupes with Quattro.

    I agree and I guess I'll go ahead and say the same thing I've said over and over in the A3 forums. Unless it's an exterior modified bone stock or S-Line model, I hate A3's. I don't find them attractive at all without appearance modifications. I guess this is because I really don't like the look of hatchbacks, overall. I welcome sedan's introduction. I've always been more of a sedan guy anyway. That said, I am perfectly happy with my A3. I don't see any around me that look aggressive and sporty.

    I bet we will see the S3 eventually as...every other CAR in audi's line up is available with an S badge now...

    For the sake of being thorough they will bring it... especially since the new one is sooo fuel efficient

    +1. I'll gladly take the sedan. Love my A3 Sportback, but no way I'd turn down the new sedan.

    I'm hoping for the RS Q3. It's likely the only RS hatchback that has a chance.

    ...because Germany is still pissed off about WWII...

    In seriousness, I can't see the S3 (3-door) selling here. The Golf R is an example of why it would never fly in North America. Kids will buy cheap power and it's only good as a second car for the true enthusiast that has the cash to spend.

    There will be a S3 sedan, patience will bring back the Sportback IMO. Depending on what the RS3 becomes, MIGHT see it here, depending on how many doors Audi releases it as. If it's 5-door, you will never see it here. 4-doors on the other hand...

    We'll never see a true compact performance sport wagon in this country. Closest we'll ever come is an RS4 Avant. Most Americans that are willing to spend that type of money on a smaller car can afford a utility vehicle and a sports car and then they need to overcompensate with something flashy and say "hey aren't I cool" and since most Americans view the A3 as a station wagon those overcompensating label whores buy two door sports cars.

    How the heck do they get those close ups on the track

    I wasn't so sure I liked the design when the photos came out, but on the road, that thing looks amazing, so does the interior.

    Same! I was torn on the new look from the photos. Looked great from some angles, but 'meh' from others. Seeing it in motion I like it a lot! A bit more Avant-ish which isn't a bad thing.

    Maybe it'll take a few years to come out, and by then they'll have worked out any kinks and we can buy it worry free!

    Because Audi is interested in making money and bringing over items that will sell well.

    The 2 door hatchback S3 isn't a good choice. Market for a mid $40's 2 door hatchback in the U.S. is very small. Far better seller would be the S3 sedan.

    I believe the 5 door hatchback (standard A3, not S3) has a chance, in limited versions, if the sedan sells well enough to justify it. If the sedan does poorly I don't think they will bring the hatchback.

    North America will get the S3 Sedan, likely in close proximity to the A3 Sedan launch. As for the RS3, it's still a possibility, but probably not for several years. As for the Sportback, it is likely that it will come in "alternative drivetrains" only. That means diesel, hybrid, CNG, all-electric. As for when we might get the Sportback - that's a big question mark.
