I've been trying to get VCDS to work on my Macbook Pro running Windows 8 preview.

I installed the latest version of VCDS on Windows 8. Everything seems to have installed without any problems but when I try to open the program nothing happens. I tried running the Windows "troubleshoot compatibility" but that didn't help either.

Anyone have any words of advice?

Try Windows 7, at least until Ross-Tech releases a version certified to be able to run on Windows 8. At least this will tell you if it is a Windows 8 issue or a Mac/bootcamp issue. Also Ross-Tech does not support running VCDS is a virtual machine. If it works, fine; but R-T does not officially endorse or support such use. This is all in the FAQ. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/faq_1.html

    Have Fun!

I'm running Xp under VirtualBox on a macbook pro. Run VCDS fine. Might want to try that combo.

I'm also on a MacBook Pro (mid 2010) and just updated to Windows 8 today via Boot Camp.

I just happened to get a HEX USB/CAN cable this past Wednesday and ran VCDS just fine on Windows 7. I can't run VCDS 11.11.4.2 in Windows 8, compatibility mode or otherwise. The application just silently fails to launch.

Ross-Tech seems reluctant to stay on top of modern PC technology, so I'm not sure whether today's official Windows 8 release matters for Ross-Tech's own development/release schedule. Anybody with more experience know what to expect?

Install using the 32-bit option during install. This fixed it for me :-)

I owe you guys beers and high-fives – thanks! I ran the installer and the app in compatibility mode, yet neglected to use the option *built in to the install program.* Not a proud moment for my intelligence, but glad to have it working!
