      LET'S GET READY TO RUMMMMMBLLLLLEEEE!!!!!!

      In this corner, we have today's favorite - the 420 hp / 406 lb-ft 4.0L Twin Turbo Gasoline V8.

      0-60 in 3.7 seconds and about 28 mpg on the highway.





      In the other corner we have the underdog - the 313 hp / 480 lb-ft compound bi-turbo 3.0L V6 TDI

      0-60 in 4.4 seconds and over 40 mpg on the highway.

      I can't watch any of the videos or anything right now, but Im gonna say the TDI. The A6 in general is a whole lotta car, and a V6TT TDI is nothing to scoff at. After that it might just be excessive, for a luxury sedan like this. Also if I were badge-conscious, buying the TDI isn't a badge to be ashamed of IMO.

      I voted 4.0L because it sounded better to me. Diesel cars aren't meant to be fun - thats why I want a Touareg TDI.

      I chose the TDI.
      The difference in 0-60 acceleration is largely academic to me. The greater torque and better fuel efficiency are things that I'll notice in my driving. It's a win-win.

      Neither choice is lacking in that. The gas engine may have less overall torque, but the powerband is way way wider. The torque peak is longer than the whole powerband of the diesel (more powerful S8 engine shown).

      I voted the diesel because the Hp/Tq are both already so great that for everyday use, the difference would be negligible. Both cars are very quick and the ability to hit 40mpg would blow me away. It is one thing to line up next to a car and blow them away with hp & speed but to do both while besting their mileage greatly at the same time is a very powerful statement.

      Bi-turbo TDI. Sound alone is about V8 quality. The torque + mpg combo just take it over the top.

      Honestly, the biturbo pulls hard to redline, it doesn't let up at all. It holds peak power to 4,500 RPM.

      The single turbo V6 gets soft above 4,000 RPM - just like the E350.

      To make power above 4k, you need a sequential multi turbo system, no question.

      TDI no contest. Living in Europe 0.7 seconds slower to 60 is insignificant compared to an extra 12mpg. Plus all that extra torque!

      Yeah, for US gas prices and driving style, my choice could go either way. In Europe, the advantage shifts towards the TDI. Fuel prices are an issue and Autobahn driving would strongly favor the TDI.

      As mentioned, at idle, that tdi sounds like an americna v8
      I voted TDI, theres nothing better than driving into narrow garages, and hearing the diesel roar!

      I understand OP is comparing engine noises, but for all of you, comparing a s6 to an a6 is a little apples to oranges, no? Does the s6 not have a tuned exhaust to make it sound sporty?

      Does the new BiTDi need the add blue?

      Second, the supersprint exhaust, the video mentions reprogramming the dpf, have they found a way to remove it completely, and program the ecu?

      For the type of driving I do 95% of the time? TDI.

      It'd be hugely rapid and likely deliver high 20's on the city cycle. In a car like the A6, that's fantastic--and much better to live with in the real world than the S6, which would likely return 16-18 I'd think (for comparison, I barely get more than 22mpg in my GTI on my daily commute, which averages 18-19mph).

      However, the S6 is huge value against cars like the Merc and M5. Honestly, I couldn't see myself stretching to buy an M5 over the S6.
