Actually you may be on to something about driving too fast. It's much harder to get a good focused shot of a car that's ripping by than one that's just cruising. This is especially true when a big group of cars comes by. I know I missed a lot of cars that I just couldn't get focused on quick enough before they were by or were obscured by another car
