Thread: 15mm Spacers and performance loss?

  1. 10-05-2012 08:13 AM #1
Hey everyone one it's been a while since I came on the forum , in my other post I did say that I would add more recent pics if my car but I never got around to it but I hope to get around to it soon , anyways,
I have an mk4 vr6 with 18" mags 225/45/18 and I didn't notice any performance difference except that my ride is a little smoother but yesterday I installed a set of 15mm spacers and I've noticed my vr doesn't pull like it did without them and feels like I lost a noticeable ammount of power

Is it my imagination or do spacers cause performance loss excluding handling and wheele bearing
Please tell me what u guys think thanks

Ps. Sry if this post is in the wrong section

Yeah pretty much the bums and all are a little smoother and all and the handling is a little more accurate but I think the extra weight on the wheels make it feel heavier in theory it makes seance but idk if it should make that big if a difference

Any time you add rotational mass you will lose power. But spacers shouldn't be noticeable.

Spacers shouldn't affect power. Why are you running 45 series on 18's?

in theroy yes you have increased your ratational mass by maybe two pounds? which is nearly the same as good **** so if your hypothesis is correct you should gain and loose hp before/after you dump as well.

there is no power change to your car when adding spacers

So most of you say that it shouldn't affect power but Donyou think that spacers indirectly make it feel more heavy since the tires are more out so many because of that it feels like less pull or maybe since its further out it needs more force
Example tie something to a string the longer the sting the more fore needed to keep it rotating maybe it is the same for the spacers since there more out

Did you remove the tornado in the intake tube while in the spacer installation process??..did you remove some performance stickers?
