Thread: VAG COM expert advice/help needed... couple weird reprogram questions

  1. 10-05-2012 11:18 AM #1
    I've searched to no availe...

Does anyone know if the "keyfob *30 second* auto relock feature " for the rear wagon hatch can be turned OFF? I want to eliminate that feature but I DO NOT want to eliminate the auto locking feature for when you drive away... just the 30 second relock feature after manually unlocking the wagon hatch by using the keyfob or door switch release (for hatch).

Is that confusing enough? If so this may help all understand what I'm after...

The wife has to load my fat ass and then my wheelchair into the wagon (motorcycle accident). After helping me in the passenger side seat and before she gets around to putting the chair in the back it has relocked. She has to search out the keyfob or go around to the driver door switch. This wasn't a problem in my Taurus wagon because it did NOT autolock. If for some reason it was locked, I could hit the door switch on the passenger door and it INCLUDED the rear hatch. Problem is VW's passenger side door lock release does NOT include the hatch lock/unlock.

    QUESTIONS:
1 Can the "keyfob *30 second* auto relock feature " for the rear wagon hatch can be turned OFF or added delay?
2 Can the rear hatch lock be included into the door lock/unlock curcuit thru VAG COM reset?

    Thanks any input is appreciated

Most VW models will always lock after a set time frame by default but once we know which control modules are installed someone should be able to tell you if automatic re-locking can be disabled.

1.) Unlock the car with the Remote.
2.) Place the Key in the Ignition and rotate it to the "ON" position, leave the driver's door open to prevent any possibility of getting locked out.
3.) Unlock all doors, and the Tail Gate.
4.) load up all of your "items", including you and your Wife.
    5.) close all open doors.
6.) Start the car, and go.

Thanks Dana, thats what I'm hoping to find out. I don't want to lose the "driveaway autolock" just the "remote timed autolock", so I'm hoping these autolock features can be programmed individually

Wish it were that EZ... If you only knew what it is like in a day of a quadripelegics life you wouldn't be so cutesy.

I don't think Tim was being as you say, "cutesy". I think he offered a suggestion to use in the short term since you have not provided the necessary information for a long-term solution. No one here is a walking encyclopedia of every ecm variation used in every car. For that matter, your original post doesn't tell us the year and model of the car in question (Jetta? Passat?). The traditional way to get the answer to your type of question is for the person asking to follow the steps per the directions provided by Jack.

Now, I may be "cutesy" at times but Tim seems to be more patient and helpful than I. The suggestion he made is viable for a lack of information to provide a more definative solution.

That would be the 3rd generation VW comfort system and the module does not support diagnostic capable tweaks (neither adaptation or coding) for this function:

Thank you VR6 for your kind words.
I think that the only solution, is the solution that I offered.
To the OP, give it a try.
