Anyone ever get that strange multicolored insulator crap under the carpet tested? We are probably all sitting in poison on the way to work/ school everyday!

to my knowledge, asbestos was banned in 1980 (atleast across the pond from you it was) so you should note see asbestos in a golf 2


and it seems that it was banned in 89 in the US

but i highly doubt that the MK2 contains even traces of asbestos unless it was used to carry materials made of the crap

That padding is not made of Asbestos and if it was VW would have had to pay to completely remove it and dispose of it.

Asbestos is not plutonium so chill out. It would only be a problem if it were to turn to dust and you were exposed for a long time. If you want to worry about something try mold. These cars are always wet and over twenty years old.
