Reflecting on cars

After car shows I'll ego surf to see if anybody posted pictures of my cars. Two weeks ago we were in the Orphan Car Show in Riverside Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Someone sent me a 2 mb file of this picture of my car they found on the web. I put it on my photobucket account and found out it was huge.



When I increased the size I was startled by the intensity of reflections in the front bumper. I zoomed in and found a pretty clear reflection of me, sitting in my show chair with by black show hat and Hawaiian shirt. The shirts are pretty standard fare in the old car arena, especial if you have a '50s car.

I've seen some pretty awesome reflection shots in the Hot Schizz thread. Post the best reflection shots in your hoard of pictures.



P.S. I did do a search of "reflection" and found no similar thread, yet, I thought I had seen one here recently.

The Continental is looking as sharp as ever!

One thing I have noticed about Mark IIs are some of them have front bumpers with fins and others don't. It doesn't appear to be a model year change because I have seen 56's equipped both ways. I was also always under the impression the only option available was air conditioning. Do you know why this is?

Oh, and...

The shirts are pretty standard fare in the old man arena, especially if you are 50+.

Who do you think owns the cars? The spectator average age is about the same. I don't know what happened, I went to classic car shows in my 20s.

What you're referring to are called license plate guards and only went on cars ordered where front license plates were required. Some cars got just lower bars while some got uppers, too.

I have no reflections since I'm actually a vampire, but Barry, your comment on how you didn't have to wait until you were a greybeard to enjoy old cars "reflects" my own experience. I loved old cars when I was a boy, and went to antique car showings locally, especially a great gathering in Momence, Illinois at their annual Gladiolas Festival, while still a teenager. My first "big" classic car show was when I went to the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Festival and Kruse Brothers Auction in Auburn, Indiana in 1972 when I was 19.

OP the only reason your car is reflecting so much in that pic is because of a cheap parlour trick called HDR. It makes the picture look like a cartoon if you ask me and doesnt really add anything to the beauty of the car. A little HDR can have its advantages but in this case its just too overdone.

It took me a second to realize that was a reflection. My first thought was "Damn, Barry, you need to fix that sagging roof!"

Great looking cars. Too bad there aren't that many Classic Car shows around here. The ones we do have are infested with chop-hack "customs"
