Drove 100 miles down to Tampa this morning, leaving my house just before 6am, so Gary could apply Opti-Guard. He first cleaned and clayed the car, then polished the entire car, alcohol wipe down, then Opti-Guard application...

Garry knows his stuff and even has his own product line, the most famous being his "Infinite Use Detail Juice"

You guys should see how this stuff worked on my leather seats...Crazy stuff and it has no silicone. Non-greasy.

He explained the difference between Opti-Guard and Opti-Coat and why he uses the "Guard" version.

I'm pretty sure he did a quick before and after video, which I'm sure he'll put up soon.

As the story goes with Florida, it rained on my way home, so I got a chance to see the hydrophobic coating in action. Pretty cool stuff.

Here's a video of a new BRZ that he treated:

I recently came up on his detail juice, I'm almost out of my gallon jug of Adam's detail spray so I'm going to give it a try. It's amazing that small bottle can make 6 gallons, talk about a savings. The gallon version can make 47 gallons, crazy.

Anyways, car looks great, I love buying detail products.

Ryan, get a separate bottle to use at full concentration. Then spray it directly onto a micro-fiber cloth and wipe down your leather. Never greasy and has plenty of hydration to keep it supple. I've been using Lexol for a while and I like the smell and look of Gary's stuff much better. Plus, it doesn't screw up the windows if you accidentally smudge the window/windshield while wiping the doors and dash.

No one in the industry uses the exact chemical blend he and his chemist have concocted.

Is Opti-Guard the same as Opti-Coat 2.0? Forgive me for my ignorance.

    No, it is not.
Opti-Coat 2.0 was created after Opti-Guard, specifically so consumers could apply this product as a DIT. Opti-Coat takes 12 hours to cure, where Opti-Guard is cured and hard in 30 minutes. This is why you typically only see Pros using Opti-Guard.
From what Gary says, Opti-Guard cures harder, making it more durable.

Size/offset of the wheels? Suspension? Any rubbing?

18x8.5. ET 45, 255/35/18 Hankook's. Coil-overs. No rubbing. A little at first, but raised up the front by 1/4 of an inch and tucked that piece of fender lip under.

Depending on how much prep work/paint correction, this should cost between $400-$500.

I easily spend that in one year getting my car waxed once a month. Well worth it.

Looks great but I have a question.

If Opti Guard takes 12 hours to cure and you drove it home in the rain right after application,,,,,
what gives? Am I missing something?

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll give it a try when my order comes in.

I'm currently using Adam's Leather & Interior Cleaner, it removes all the oils (shininess) and pulls out a lot of black from areas that get touched a lot, such as the steering wheel and shifter, seat as well. The leather has that nice original matte finish, just like when you get the car new.

I usually follow up with their leather conditioner w/foam pad and wipe down with a waffle weave for a matte look.

I guess they replaced opti-guard with opti-coat pro. I was the first opti coat pro my detailer ever did. If your car is new (within a year I believe) it comes with a lifetime warranty. My CSG R looks just as good as the OP although it is dusty here in nor cal.

I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more Tapatalk.

Scott - Did he also do your rims?

When my local guy did my car he also did the rims and OMG when you wash the car the brake dust just comes off. Amazing how little water remains on the car after this process has been done.
