Alright guy i have done motor swaps B4 no prob but where my experience lacks is swapping motors from one model car to the next. I am thinking of swapping a built ABA G60 into my 1990 GLI if its not to complicated. Now what will i need to do with subframe and wiring? Can i use the same harness and just swap rado ecu with sns chip? Or would it be easier swap to just strap the charger to the 9A 16V? Thanks guys i will looking forward to what is replied!

IIRC, the brackets/ mounts are the hardest parts. That is why the 16v integration kit from BBM is $$$$. I only researched it until the cost exceeded just buying a 20v turbo setup, then I dropped it. Turbo would probably be cheaper for your chassis, too ... but then, if that was all we were worried about, none of us would be here.

Thanks for the feed back man, I actually have the G60 setup in my MK3 GTI. I bought it that way but thought it be sweet in the mk2 gli. I am having MS1 probs and do not know where to start with it nor want to deal with wiring haha. But it does have 5.9V at the coil and distibutor so i am stumped

I would think that the aba/g60 would be a direct swap into a mk2. an 8v is an 8v, and should utilize the same mounting points. They made a g60 mk2 from the factory aka rallye golf.

Do you have the mk3 g60 in the states? Because that would be illegal.

The motor will bolt right in if you use a 020 tranny

if you have both cars side by side, all you have to do literally is unbolt the subframes, shock towers, exhaust and undo the wiring harness and coolant hoses. drop and swap. if you are doing it piecemeal then its a little harder but not much. Since its a 9A its CE2 so the engine harness will swap right over..
