Wondering if anyone can help. I have an 2003 GTI when i start the car after sitting overnight it starts fine and the idle is fine. As soon as i put it into gear (forward or reverse) it acts like its going to kill the engine off and die. It does it numerous times. As soon as i put it back into park it does it for a few seconds and then stops. I'll put it back into gear and it will be fine. I never actually dies. It started doing this after after sitting for a week straight with no use. I recently had one of the anti-lock brake censer replaced, which was causing other problems. It stopped for 2 weeks after that and has now started up again.... any clue whats going on?

Also i have checked codes and the only code on is a cooling censer code, just needs a new temperature censer.
    Thanks

Did you scan the transmission or just the engine?

But anyway - I'd start by fixing the cooling sensor problem.
