Thread: Where to begin?

  1. 10-06-2012 04:06 AM #1
Hey guys i have a Gli 2008 all stock and i am getting ready to start making mods on it. But the question now is where to start and where to get these parts. I want to go for engine performance first before i get to the exterior of the car.
Can you guys help this VW lover out?

    The now picture

    Now what to do? Hmmm

Step 1 - Software - APR, Revo, GIAC, others. Tons of threads about which one is better, search.

Step 2 - Finish the bodywork.

Is the fender over the driver side headlight still like it is in the picture ,if so needs to
be fixed. As for upgrades I would go first with the Software tune...After that it depends
    on what you want,handling(suspension)power(engine mods)body styling(sideskirts,front
    spoiler/lip,rear spoiler)interior(gauges/pods) ect I have a 08GLI and I wish I could do it
    all over again

Not sure how many miles or what maintenance you have done along with the body work but, that is something to check out also before aftermarket parts - Timing belt, cam follower, PCV, ect. Also as listed above here are a few performance ideas to look into when starting out:

    - DV
    - Intake
    - Software
    - Exhaust
    - Dog bone mount

    Volkswagen Jetta V 2.0T

Take advantage of the current APR Fall Sale! PM me with any questions!

Springs as you know are much less than bags
And that would leave more money to put elsewhere.
Do not forget about the tune that is the biggest bang
for the buck and invovles no work.
You can always do bags later, no hurry
Just have fun...There is lots of advice and it is
    your money.

Yea i know theres many things i can do and many products out there. And that is true the springs are alot , ALOT cheaper than bags and including that im a college student, jaja hard stuff. The sad part, here in Denver, many shops only want to deal with honda and dont want to even touch a VW. But i'll see were i start and put up info on my baby.

If you have or can borrow tools now is a good time to learn how to work
on your own car...I don't know maybe you are already so inclined.Start
with the small/easy stuff after you get the tune...You will REALLY enjoy
    the extra power
PS Compared to vdubs...Honda's don't LOL
