Hello, I am a new kid around here so I figured I would introduce myself. I have frequented many other boards but mainly for Jeeps and big toyota trucks. I used to play and tune little hondas as a kid. I know I will I am new to this VW world but not new to the car game. My wife wanted something smaller and more fuel effecient than my 4runner but I can't do plain so here I am and I am already in the process of figuring out what has to change to my new ride.

I am letting go a tricked out 2001 toyota 4runner Here is a link to the cardomain page if anyone is in the market and picking up a black 2010 jetta TDi cup edition.

This car I am buying has the Thunderbunny kit installed, it looks great but it doesn't leave much room for ground clearance. I live in Boston and the winters aren't going to be nice to this front bumper.

Now my 1st round of questions on a new board:
Does the R32 front bumper offer more ground clearance than the TB?
How much is a Thunderbunny black front bumper worth in flawless condition?
Is it realistic to trade one straight across for another bumper to someone on here?
Is it a straight trade or is one bumper worth more than the other?
It seems like these are in fairly high demand and honestly I like the R32 bumper a lot more. but I would prefer not to get taken by not knowing better.
Will the R32 bumper look ok with the rest of the TB kit?
    Anyone have any pictures?

The other option is to buy a standard jetta bumper to use in the winter.

    Thanks in advance

    Doug

The TB bumper is worth a good deal more than most other bumpers, so if you do find someone to trade I would ask for trade + a little money on their end. A brand new painted TB front bumper goes for around $1500. A used one will go for whatever someone will pay for it. The thunderbunny kit looks good with all bumpers and many people mix and match. I have a votex lip on my rabbit with thunderbunny side skirts and votex rear. Personally I would keep the thunderbunny bumper because it is fairly rare, especially to see them on Jettas. I don't know the difference in ground clearance between the TB and r32 fronts, so I can't really help you with that question.

Keep the thunderbunny man, I rarely see TB kits on the road. As for ground clearance, I have a tdi cup with TB at stock height and I have lots of ground clearance. I think it's around the same. Here's an R32 and my tdi cup.

Thank you both for your reply's. Aside from the ground clearance issue, I really like the r32 bumper better. My hesitation is I don't want to go through the hastle of hunting down a R32 bumper trade and switching them unless I will be gaining ground clearance (especially since I also love the TB bumper). Does anyone know the actual ground clearance specs between the two?

    Thanks again

The R32 bumper allows for steeper approach angles. I have had both the Thunderbunny and the R32 bumper and I am lower with the R32 bumper and scrape way less.

That is kind of what I was thinking. Do you use TB skirts or reap bumper? If the R32 will look clean with the rest of the thunder kit then I will try for trade

I have a GLI so that's the skirts and rear I have. I want Votex sides and rear. The R bumper will look fine with the Thunderbunny kit.

Perfect. What would be the easiest way to trade it away? If I offer a straight across trade for the R32 in the classifieds would that be enough incentive to get some one to drive? I guess I am asking if a straight trade is enough profit for the owner of the R32 bumper that they would move quick or would I be ripping myself off?

Thanks again for all the reply's

Not many R32 owners will trade. Just a heads up. I've only seen two R32 with the Thunderbunny front.

    Always worth a try though.

Thats kind of what I was worried about. Is the marketplace on vortex going to be my best bet to advertise? I'll just put up an ad for a straight trade and wait until I find someone. Who knows maybe ill find a rear end wrecked black R32 being parted out.

I just don't want my wife to crack up this bumper being careless with speed bumps or parking curbs.

So I just found out they didn't make a black R32 for the US market....

So GLI or GTI front? it seems like there are a lot of different front lips on these bumpers and I am having a hard time figuring out what is stock.

I am also thinking about just trading it straight across for stock bumpers and getting some other goodies instead. Input? Here is a link to my ad

I think I just want my cup to look like this...no big deal

Don't do a straight trade. Your bumper is worth much more.

I was thinking Wolfsburg or GTI that is clean and has fogs. Would that be a fair trade for my front?

Other option is trade my whole kit for stock front and rear + either $1k or maybe a good set of winter 17" rims with snow tires.

Are these close or am I still loosing to much?

What is the kit worth if I just sell it straight outright?
