So I bought some exhaust tips for my 2013 CC. Much to my surprise they don't fit!

If you look in the third pic, it seems as if the car already has some tips installed, albeit not chrome ones. Do I have to remove them (wouldnt know how cause they seem to be welded to the exhaust) and then be able to fit the chrome tips? Or did the ebay seller just send me the wrong ones?

I had to bang mine on with a rubber mallet. They are a 'scrape fit' so they don't rattle. The two tips will be almost touching each other when installed. Then again I had OEM and your's are not.

but it looks like the exhaust itself is round, whereas the "factory fitted" tips (as seen in the 3rd image) are oval. Is this normal or does my car have different ones than the ones sold in the US (I live in Dubai).

My 2013 has the same exhaust as yours. You need to buy the OEM tips. They will fit over the existing exhaust. I bought mine from the dealer for around $50. US. The tips have to be for the CC. The first set the dealer sold me were for the jetta and would not go over the exhaust. The second set he sold me were made for the CC and fit great.

Thanks. I am glad to know that my car isn't different because of the OEM oval tips. Will try to get the chrome ones from the dealer, that is if they sell them out here.

I noticed the tips you have are the clamp type. Are they by any chance these ones from ebay? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/120957379042?...84.m1497.l2649

Because I have those ones and they fit over my exhaust perfectly, with just the right amount of elbow grease needed get them all the way in:

If you have the same ones, then it's likely 2013 cars have different dimensions.

The exhaust pipes are round, they just appear oval because they're cut at an angle.

That looks way too short (and it shouldn't narrow on the end there, see my link for comparison). Are you sure the listing say its compatible with the CC? I'd contact the seller for some kind of exchange or refund because there's no way that is going to fit on your exhaust.

For the record, eBay is a very safe place to buy from. I've purchased many things there that worked perfectly, zero failures, and cost only a fraction of what they go for elsewhere. You just have to be careful and double check the descriptions before buying. The sellers are typically really responsive and helpful if you have a problem because reputation is super important to them. The only inconvenience is shipping really.

Yeap, the listing said it would fit VW CCs (the 2.0T models). I have contacted the seller and I am sure he will refund me the money (they always do since they are scared of a bad rating).

I also have to say that I have done over a 100 transactions on ebay and am very satisfied with all purchases and sales. This is the first time that I have received the wrong item.

Ebay "can" work BUT what you have there is a pretty crappy exhaust tip
I've NEVER seen an exhaust clamp with a worm drive/hose clamp

The VW exhaust tips are help on by set screws, which aren't that pretty (because they poke out a little) but work 100%

A nicer tip will have a band clamp connection on it though

I get what you're saying but I couldn't care less what kind of locking system is used as long as it works. Mine go on so tightly I couldn't yank them off even without the clamps tightened. I've had them for a while now and they've been just fine. Maybe they should start disintegrating just to fit the made in china stereotype.

it looks like the stock tips are pressed on (there is a dent for it) and a quick spot weld.

I wonder if it is possble to grind away the weld and remove the stock tips?
