Yeah, if you're going to do a single-DIN, use the VW part instead of generic plastic adapters. The VW part is very nice. It is supposed to have a rubber mat inside the bottom compartment too - may want to check with your vendor to insure that is included as sometimes they want to sell them separately (I think it does have its own P/N).
Note that the one used in the pic above is NOT the VW piece. The VW piece is exactly the size of a stock radio, so the trim fits around it correctly.
