      This!

I really like the 981 styling but it deviates too much from the traditional porsche lines IMO
If your car feels like it's on rails, then you're going too slow.

when you put them side by side with cropped photos like that, the 991 obviously looks better.

the 981 is fuggin HAWT though.

Well, one day I will be getting one of these, probably in the exact same color combo and wheels if that answers your question.

      Fact is they're all great.

And hey, if you like the design of the 911 the most that's totally cool, but it's just ignorant to think that anything else isn't a real Porsche.

The way I meant it is that people don't dream about owning just a Boxster. The 911T/ GTx is the ultimate Porsche so to speak. So until you can afford those, the Boxster/Cayman is the next best thing.

I have read many articles stating the Cayman handles better than the 911, and I know a guy who turbo-ed his Cayman, and does not want a 911.

That's just the 90's facelift of an older car and you can kinda tell. The 996 looks more coherent to me because it was all designed at once.

I really like the Boxster's integrated taillight-spoiler. Oddly, one of my favorite elements of the design. Kinda bummed the Cayman spy shot doesn't show it, or that the 911 doesn't use it.

I voted 991 because I'm a self-professed 911 fanboy (the newer the better!). But furthermore, as nice as the 981 is, the design (mostly due to the square-ish headlights) is somewhat anonymous.

Don't think I'm saying that it's boring or unattractive - it's not - but, like some previous Porsches (the 944, for example) it really could have any badge on it and not look out of place. In fact, it looks a bit like an MR2 Spyder that's been modernized and had all the awkward removed.
I like things with two wheels and things with four wheels.

The whole back end of that car is taped over.

It's still camouflaged obviously. The Boxster looked the same way before they removed the camo.

It will most likely be there, but the lense is clearly visible in that shot and there is no indication of the chrome wingtip..

I hate to agree about the overall silhouette of the 981 headlights, but I do think the odd trapezoid shape is kind of generic. I wouldn't say it needs the classic ovals, but it is lacking something, in regards to the overall contour of the car... But it's really only noticeable from the direct front view. At any other angle, they look ok.

I think it's the disruption of the fender line over the wheel, and the small recess where the washer sits. The lights look tacked on, rather than integrated. I like the way cars looked in the 60's with the vertical lenses covered by a long piece of polycarbonate to preserve the line of the car. That look would work better here, especially with the two vertically aligned lenses..

Jonathan, why are you asking random people on the internet about this???? You know that me buying your car for a better price for you than the dealer is pretty much a lock unless you bin the Cayman or otherwise harm it in the next six months, so it follows that I may very well buy your next Porsche off you in a few years. So the only person you need to consult on model, colour, transmission, options, etc. is ME!!!!
