I've never seen this before. For about 2 minutes after turning off the heating element in our Jenn-Air rotisserie a spot on the coil stays cherry red. We've been here for 19 years and I use it once a week, at least, but we've observed this the last month or so.
Anybody else ever see this? I was thinking the coil was about to fail there, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Yes, it is going to fail. Might just burn a small hole. Might ignite like a 4th of
July sparkler and give you quite a show!!
Just buy a new one and swap it before it fails. There is enough heat when they fail that they can burn a hole through the surrounding metal of the case.
