I have a mk3 golf gti with the abf engine, just brought a new back box to make her look pretty, it's too loud, ok it's a short box, expected it to be a bit louber than standard, but I tried it with no back box at all, and it was quiet, but I noticed the new oval box has a type of resonator tip, a large tail pipe , with a reducer inside with about an inch of mesh going inside the hollow tip, does anyone know if this could be the culprit of the bassy tone on over run, and low revs, would anyone recommend removing, or maybe drilling holes in the reducer to silence, can't be assed to start looking at sound dynamics and resonance, so any help or advice, and I would be most grateful, cheers, Phil
