its a gray'ish wire coming from the firewall and it has become disconnected and i cant figure out where its supposd to do. at the same time, my tail lights fuse keeps blowing out (fuse #8). If i bypass that fuse briefly the green wire on the headlight switch (at terminal 58) starts to melt. could the two problems be related?

    thanks!

That has to be a wire put in by the previous owner. Stock wires wouldn't have those blue crimp on connectors. You'll have to trace it inside to see where it goes.

Wires melting means a short. Hot wire is going direct to ground, pulling so much current...it melts.

Tail lights not working means that they either have a ground on the power or power on the ground, or a power lead is free to touch the frame.

Ground on the tail lights are in the middle of the plate that the bulbs attach to.
Power is applied to the metal fingers on the bulb sockets.

Divorces, Great Coffee, and Electrics, all start with GOOD Grounds.

    Where are my grounds ?

both tail lights do work, but I have to bypass the circuit with a higher amp fuse (won't solve the issue because as i mentioned it melts one of the wires).

the right (passenger) front parking light doesn't work at all (the turn signal part works, but it won't come on steady with the headlights.)

I'm confused, fuse #7 controls the left side and #8 controls the right side. if fuse 8 keeps blowing then wouldn't the left side tail light be unaffected?

I was fiddling with the grille yesterday, i am wondering if i may have dislodged something in the area of the lights. (and still cant find where that gray wire goes)

I thought it could also have something to do with the leaky window soaking the floor on the right side. I checked that wire tho it's still wrapped and sealed in black tubing.

EDIT: Fixed it. there was a wire going to ground that apparently was causing the short. i disconnected it and it was fine. no blowing fuse. the melted wire looks to be fine (no damage). not sure what that wire was for, and that gray wire wasnt connected to anything at all. the previous owner must have had some sort of fog lights or car alarm or something. (or one of the previous 5 owners, lol)
