I would like to know the real world mileage you get out of it, and how you like it after six months. I think Hyundai has finally reached the level of quality that Honda was at in the 1990's, and I mean that as a compliment. The best Hondas were built in the 1990s, and perhaps the best Hyundais are being built right now. Couldn't see buying a new Civic or Corolla over the Elantra.

The new models are head and shoulders above the old. Come into the now.

Apparently, you still don't ****ing realize that this isn't a Volkswagen forum. This is The CAR Lounge, many sites link to it, and there's a sizable group of people here growing by the second that supports you taking your twin German beige Jettas and getting the **** out.

OP, slick buy. I like the Elantra Limited best in sedan form actually but don't care for the fact that the 6MT is banished to the lower end models. At least the Elantra Coupe can be the loaded up SE model with the manual. Pops just picked up a loaded off-lease '12 Sonata Limited 2.0T and I find that the power of that thing in midrange is just ridiculous.

Sonata is still doing wonderfully. Unlike my old Mazda 3s, the paint still looks factory fresh after 26k miles. Fuel economy has been getting better with age. No squeaks/rattles, interior is still pristine, and I still love the car.

My only major problem with the car is that I didn't get the backup camera, and backing it into parking spaces is a pain because I can't see s*^t. I always have to end up hanging my head out the window to judge/see where the car is going/situated.

    Eh? Not bad huh?

To the OP. I had one of these as a rental in Vegas, and I was impressed by it. Could never reach the mileage ratings, but it was otherwise put together nicely. I'm sure it will serve you well, and hey, happy wife happy life!

That's good to hear. These new Hyundai's come with so much tech and features for such a small price, and I've been somewhat skeptical about their reliability and durability. Nice to see they've put a lot of effort on the small details.

    Congrats on your purchase

Hyundais (at least in the looks department), have come a long way in my opinion. They are actually fairly good looking vehicles.

As to drivetrain and ride quality, I cannot speak to that as I've never drive a-one.

I was skeptical too of the reliability too at first before buying my Sonata. But the 5-year bumper to bumper, 5 year roadside assistance, and 10 year powertrain sold me.

Looks really good. Hyundai really has read Toyota's playbook and exceeded it. More and more I'm surprised by the level of quality and design in their cars.

"I don’t want the company to be driven by numbers. I want it to be driven by making better cars and contributing to society. That will turn into profit, which we can use to develop better cars. That should be the cycle, and that will, as a result, build a company with a strong foundation."

Hyundai's ability to sell a car like the Elantra for less than competitors has nothing to do with currency manipulation, and everything to do with the fact that they mine their own iron ore to press their own steel, which means they don't pay mark-up and don't have to worry about fluctuations in the steel market.

A lot of hate in this thread for no reason. Yes your wife got a neutral econobox, but it's no worse than a beige Corolla or brown Jetta 2.5. I'm sure it will serve her well.

These Elantras remind me of a 2006-2010 civic taken to the next level.

They just look so sporty and elegant at the same time

That and a $23 design budget.

    Canadian Thanksgiving?
Is that a celebration of when the natives brought you denim and beer?

OP, how about some daytime pictures of your wife?

Anyhow, nice car. I took Hyundai (and Kia) off my list due to not having a spare tire option.

I always thought this too, but was disappointed when I drove my ex's 2012 Sonata. It felt like a tin can on wheels and was super floaty.

But I'm glad the OP likes the purchase. I'm sure it will last many years

I saw one in Canada on those wheels and really liked it. I also drove a brand new rental Elantra but behind the wheel it wasn't to my liking. The steering was wayyyyyyyyyyyy too light.
