Thread: Crack (?) inside headlight lens

  1. 10-06-2012 09:17 PM #1
My Mom got a new 2012 A3 2.0T a few weeks ago. I got some Xpel film to protect the headlights, but in cleaning the lenses to apply the film today, I noticed that each side has what looks like a crack on the inside surface of the lens. It's not uniform length on the left and right lenses which leads me to believe it's a defect.

I stopped by my local Audi dealer but the service department was closed. I looked at about a dozen (new 2013 and CPO 2012) A3s and they all had the same issue.

    Right side:

Is this normal or is it a mass manufacturing defect? I did a search but nothing came up on the topic.

I bought some euro xenon lights (no amber side markers) for my facelift A3. they have the exact marks on them. I went to a dealership and the brand new car had the same spots

With the lights out of the car, it seems that this could possible where the connection seam is on the covers.
